Resurgent Medvedev Secures Maiden Title in Over Two Years

Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving strategy and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an improved service.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, took control to create a decider.

The opponent rescued four initial chances in a close third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
